CIPD Learner Stories: Harriet Brown

Harriet enjoyed studying the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management so much, she says she will definitely return to study the Level 7.

I am a People Advisor at a Global Cyber Security organization for the European, Middle Eastern and African regions. From 2021 to 2022 I was lucky enough to be sponsored by my employer to study my CIPD level 5 Diploma in People Management.

I opted to study with DPG Learn as this had been recommended by a colleague. I was attracted to DPG as the details of the course were well explained and I was enticed with a friendly call from a customer success manager who advised the appropriate course for my education ang experience, described the course in detail and answered all my queries.

I completed the blended course as I liked the idea of virtual, self-paced learning with the addition of a personal touch with the live workshops to build and develop my HR network.

I met some great people during the workshops, and it was a brilliant way to bounce ideas off one another and learn about HR process and best practices within different industries and business types.

My experience with the tutors (Gary and Lynn in particular) was very good, they were genuinely interested in the discussions and individuals’ contributions during the sessions. Post sessions I found the tutors to be genuinely helpful, hugely knowledgeable, and attentive.

The interactive course content was engaging and broken up into manageable bitesize chunks which I could drop in and out of when I had time to study around my work and social life. 

Having my CIPD qualification under my belt has given me further level of confidence with my HR skills and practices and have also widen my horizons in the HR world. I feel well equipped for my day job now with knowledge of theory than underpins the HR experiences. 

Since completing my CIPD via DPG I received a promotion based on performance and following this a new role at Advisor level.

My qualification has encouraged me to continue learning and developing myself as a HR professional, so in the not to distance future I plan to complete the level 7 diploma in People Management.
