Elizabeth Wade – Talent Manager

In Short

The CIPD Level 7 programme has supported me in my development and has enabled me to progress in my role. My confidence has improved greatly in my role and not only that, I really enjoy my job.

Why did you choose DPG for your CIPD programme?

DPG offered a number of things in terms of my learning preference, an opportunity for it to fit around my work and an online community that could answer any questions I had. I really enjoyed having a mixture of online learning and workshops and loved having a group of fellow students to work with. DPG were great with answering any questions I had before the course started and my DPG facilitator was fantastic!

How does it feel to be shortlisted for the Michael Kelly Award?

It is incredibly exciting to be shortlisted. It has felt like a great opportunity to stop and reflect upon my work and the achievements I have had since completing my CIPD. For my work to recognised beyond my own organsation, by the wider industry and the institute itself is amazing. It has been a great opportunity to share the success of the training programme I have led and managed within the construction industry and really demonstrate the benefits.

I can’t wait for the awards night. It will be really good to celebrate all my hard work with some of my colleagues. I’m also excited to find out about what the rest of the industry is doing and seeing real achievements. I’m feeling nervous but know that being shortlisted is a huge success in itself.

What would winning mean to you?

Winning would be incredible. It’s not something I have tried to think too much about as I recognise that there is some tough competition in all the categories. The application process is certainly challenging and it would be extremely rewarding to win. Since completing my qualification, it would be a huge success in terms of establishing myself confidently within my Learning and Development role.

What were your goals of starting the programme?

When starting the course, I really wanted to establish myself as a professional in Learning and Development and have the knowledge and skills to do so. I wanted to be able to confidently deliver training and really feel like I was benefitting my organisation.

Did the programme help and where are you now?

The programme supported me in my development and has enabled me to progress to the role of Talent Manager. I now lead in the design and delivery of our leadership training programmes, thanks to my understanding of learning and development and its role in the business. My confidence has improved greatly in my role and not only that, I really enjoy my job.

What you would say to anyone thinking of doing a programme with DPG?

The course certainly challenged me but was hugely rewarding and has significantly supported me in my career. I would recommend the course to anyone thinking of a career in Learning and Development.
