FAQs

Who is this apprenticeship for?

This apprenticeship is suitable for employees working within your HR function, delivering front line support to managers and other employees. It is suitable for employees of any age or skill set, who are looking to work as an HR practitioner across any discipline. They could work in a generalist role or focus on and deliver in-depth experience in a specialist area, such as Resourcing, Total Reward, Organisation Development, or HR Operations.

In small organisations they may work within an alternative role where HR responsibilities form part of it – recruitment, for example.

What does this apprenticeship cover?

This apprenticeship covers the following modules:

Understanding Organisations & the Role of HR

Provides the apprentice with an introduction to the role of human resources within an organisation, and looks at how HR interacts with the wider external environment.

Developing Yourself as an HR Practitioner

Helps the apprentice develop a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required of a professional HR practitioner.

Resourcing and Talent Planning

Provides the apprentice with an introduction to the resourcing and talent planning process and allows them to participate in a recruitment and selection activity and interview.

Recording and Analysing HR Data

Allows the apprentice to develop an understanding of the contribution that accurate data makes to the human resources function.

Managing Employment Relations

Introduces the apprentice to several aspects of managing employee relations, and introduces employment law within the context of employee relations.

Performance & Reward Management

Introduces the apprentice to the purpose of performance and reward management, and explores the role of human resources in promoting and supporting good practice in these areas.

Supporting Change

Here the apprentice explores why organisations need to change and the role of HR within this.

HR Advisory Skills 1

Looks at the apprentices’ understanding of acting as a HR adviser to the business. It explores how the apprentice can work as an internal consultant and the key stages in the consulting process. They explore the skills and techniques required to be effective in an HR consultant role, so they can work with the business to address HR business needs and agree solutions. Once completed, they will be skilled and confident at providing customised HR solutions to meet the needs of different business clients.

HR Advisory Skills 2

Helps the apprentice to understand and analyse the concept of organisational development and how it contributes to major organisational change. They develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to function effectively as an Organisational Development Practitioner within HR, which will enable them to undertake the work-related project for the End Point Assessment.

End Point Assessment Support

In addition to the above modules, the apprentice receives individual remote support to make sure that they are ready for End Point Assessment.

What will the apprentice learn?

Apprentices at this level gain a thorough grounding in the basics of HR and an understanding of HR principals.

They develop the skills and behaviours to work across all elements of HR. Through our blend of eLearning and workshops our apprentices are required to make decisions and recommendations on what HR needs to do, as well as apply best practice, and how to instigate change for the benefit of the entire organisation.

Are there any specific requirements to join this apprenticeship?

Ideally, your apprentice will work within HR or in a role where HR is a key element, so they can work on real business scenarios to bring about change whilst they complete the apprenticeship. In larger organisations, the apprentice may be one of a team supporting the business and they may also have responsibility for managing people. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths need to achieve these functional skills prior to completion of their Apprenticeship. We can provide support for this within the programme using our network of skill practitioners.

How does the apprenticeship work?

1. Apprentices will learn through a combination of scenario training, and immersive real-life simulations.
2. There is the option to upgrade to a CIPD Level 3 Qualification in Human Resource Practice leading to Associate membership of the CIPD. CIPD membership fee is an additional payment to the CIPD.
3. Apprentices receive support from experienced facilitators, their own Training Development Officer and 24/7 access to learning. You also receive access to the bespoke OneFile system, the leading e-portfolio system for managing and monitoring your apprentices’ progress. You’ll also receive regular employer progress reports and reviews.

This is an ideal qualification for people who are looking to enter the HR industry or with little HR understanding. Completing this qualification will provide you with huge wealth of knowledge in what is involved in HR and how to handle and deal with issues that arise in a workforce.

Sharon Yip, CIPD Level 3 HR

The programme helped immensely. The workshops provided context to the coursework and I was able to incorporate real life work situations into my coursework.
