How long does it take to get a CIPD qualification?
The length of time it takes to gain a CIPD qualification depends on several factors.
What to consider
Firstly, it depends on whether you study full time or part time. Secondly, it depends on the level – Level 3, 5 or 7. And thirdly, whether you go for a diploma, certificate or award.
There is a lot of flexibility about how and when you take your CIPD qualification and whatever option you take determines how long it will take. It has been designed so that it can fit around work, but whether you study full time or part time depends on your workload, any extra commitments or family demands and personal choice.
What to expect
However, you can expect to spend roughly five hours a week on individual study. Assuming that you’re studying for a CIPD Level 3 qualification, then expect it to take between 6-9 months. If it’s Level 5 you’re taking, then between 8-12 months. If it’s Level 7, then it will take roughly two years, although that does depend on how you choose to study and where you do it.
