Yes, you should join CIPD as a Student Member before you submit your first assignment for your Level 3 Certificate. You need to be a member so CIPD can moderate your assignments, award your grades, and give you your qualification – so it’s pretty important!

We’ll explain how to join as a Student Member once you enrol. Bear in mind you’ll pay an annual Student Membership fee to CIPD too.

Yes, you can! DPG is an online distance learning provider, so that means that we offer all of our CIPD courses , including our CIPD Level 3 qualification, online.

Online study is a form of distance learning, where you complete your qualification online and work through material at your own speed and your own schedule. All of the course materials, lectures and activities are accessed digitally and you’ll have access to a whole range of support to help you complete your qualification successfully.

The nature of online, self-guided study means that you set your own study timetable. Ultimately, this means that you can complete your CIPD Level 3 course part-time, if that’s what you want.

The fact that we offer our courses online means that you can complete the qualification from anywhere you want, any time that you want. All you need is a working internet connection and a internet-capable device, like a laptop, tablet or smartphone. Its inherent flexibility makes it a great way to fit studying a qualification around the demands of your life. Whether you’re currently working full-time and you want to study a new qualification to develop your career, or you have caring commitments and you don’t have the time to study full-time, online study gives you the freedom to set your own schedule. Whether you study the CIPD Level 3 part-time or full-time is entirely up to you and what you need!

For every module you study, you'll complete a written assignment. You'll hand these in online where they'll be marked by our assessors and moderated by CIPD.

And don't worry – if you don't pass an assignment first time, you'll be able to have another go with feedback and advice from your tutor. We’ve got your back!

Obtaining a CIPD Level 3 qualification is often the first step that many professionals take on their HR and Learning & Development career path. That’s because the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice is an entry-level qualification that’s aimed at people considering a career in HR for the first time, or for people at the very start of their career journey in the people profession. Perhaps the greatest benefit of studying a CIPD Level 3 is the fact that it will allow you to apply for entry-level HR roles like:

  • Junior HR Advisor
  • HR Administrator
  • HR Assistant

These roles are the perfect place to start your HR career and if you’re coming into the profession with no prior industry-experience studying a CIPD Level 3 qualification can help improve your chances of winning a role.

Another important benefit of studying a CIPD Level 3 is that it’s widely-recognised as a quality qualification by employers around the world. Having one improves your appeal as a professional, proving that you have the necessary type and quality of HR skills to excel in relevant positions in the industry.

The most obvious benefit of getting your CIPD Level 3 is that it can seriously enhance your knowledge and skills when it comes to the world of HR, building foundational knowledge that you’ll rely on throughout your career in the field.

Yes, you can. CIPD qualifications are designed to be studied in progression, letting you work your way up the career ladder by studying the relevant CIPD qualification.

The CIPD Level 3 is intended as a foundation qualification, aimed at people who are coming into HR with little or no existing knowledge of the field. It provides an excellent base to learn the fundamentals of working in the people practice that you’ll build on throughout your career.

The next level up in difficulty is the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Human Resources Management. This is an intermediate-level qualification that’s aimed at professionals who have some existing knowledge experience of HR in a work-setting. If you have successfully passed the CIPD Level 3 qualification, you’ll be eligible to study the CIPD Level 5 Diploma.

The next and final qualification that you’ll be able to study once you’ve completed your Level 5 is the CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic Human Resources Management. It’s designed for senior professionals with in-depth experience of HR who are looking to refine their career and develop strategic insight.

Professional membership designations show the level of your skills and knowledge as a HR professional. There are several levels of membership in the CIPD – the professional membership body that protects standards in the HR and L&D fields.

When you’re studying the CIPD Level 3, you’ll be required to apply for Student membership of the CIPD. This will help you to build your learning and advance your career prospects in the process.

Once you successfully complete the CIPD Level 3, you’ll be eligible to use the professional designation ‘Foundation CIPD’ after your name.
