Which Programme is Right for You?

Level 3 Foundation

(Equivalent to A Level)

Level 3 programmes provide a perfect entry point and platform to further CIPD study. They provide you with a thorough grounding in the essentials of HR or L&D principles.

Award, Certificate or Diploma in HR:

This is right for you if you are new to HR and/or working at a support level e.g. HR Administrator or Officer.

Award, Certificate or Diploma in L&D:

This is right for you if you are new to L&D or are an L&D trainer looking to gain formal recognition for your knowledge, skills and experience.

Associate Membership:

Upon successful completion of your Level 3 qualification, you will achieve CIPD Associate member status. This membership entitles you to use the professional designation Assoc CIPD, after your name.

Level 5 Intermediate

(Equivalent to Degree Level)

Level 5 programmes help you to develop a deeper understanding of HR and L&D and how they contribute towards organisational success. Aimed more at aspiring or existing HR or L&D Managers, this level helps you to understand how to drive sustainable organisational performance through considered and tailored HR or L&D interventions.

Award, Certificate or Diploma in HR Management:

This is right for you if you are an aspiring or existing HR Manager, or have studied the Certificate in Personnel or HR Practice. This programme provides a great bridge between the Level 3 and Level 7 qualifications. It is not necessary to complete a Level 5 qualification before studying for a Level 7 qualification.

Award, Certificate or Diploma in L&D:

This is right for you if you are an aspiring L&D manager, consultant or experienced practitioner who has studied Level 3 CIPD. This programme provides a great bridge between the Level 3 and Level 7 qualifications. It is not necessary to complete a Level 5 qualification before studying for a Level 7 qualification.

Associate Membership:

Upon successful completion of your Level 5 qualification, you will achieve CIPD Associate member status. This membership entitles you to use the professional designation Assoc CIPD, after your name.

Level 7 Advanced

(Equivalent to Postgraduate Level)

Set at postgraduate level, the Advanced qualifications are the most widely recognised in HR and L&D. If you have HR or L&D management experience and are comfortable studying at postgraduate level, this is the programme for you. If you have studied at degree level or higher in a business related area, but do not have HR or L&D Management experience, this programme could still be right for you if you are able to gain access to a mentor during your studies.

Advanced Award, Certificate or Diploma in HR Management:

This is right for you if you are involved in implementing HR strategy and policies and want to gain Chartered membership of the CIPD.

Advanced Award, Certificate or Diploma in HR Development:

This is right for you if you are involved in implementing L&D strategy and policies and want to gain Chartered membership of the CIPD.

Chartered membership:

Upon successful completion of your Level 7 qualification, and if you have the appropriate work experience, you can apply to upgrade to become a Chartered member of the CIPD.
